HaPpInEsS!

"External circumstances don't really matter or determine our happiness. We do matter. We determine our happiness. You and I are ultimately in charge of our own HaPpInEsS!!"  Uchtdorf

CHOOSE HAPPY! Yesterday I was at the market (sounds better than Safeway) and at the check out the cashier asked, "How are you?" I answered, "GREAT!!" He looked at me a little taken back and then he asked, "Are you having a good day?" I replied, "I am having a wonderful day! I always have amazing days because I love life. I cherish every moment of every day! Life is too short not to." The older gentlemen bagging my groceries had a huge smile on his face!  I patted him on the shoulder as I was leaving, looked him in the eye and said, "Have a Wonderful Day!"

It reminded me of when Sharron and I were in Dollar Tree getting mom's balloons and as we finished the transaction, I said, "Have a most wonderful day!" and then Sharron added, "and a FABULOUS future!"

So, to my dear sisters, "Have a superb day, a Fabulous weekend and a Marvelous Future!!!

Love Your Body....I LOVE Mine!

Louise Hay says to talk to ourselves in the mirror all the time with positive comments and she says to just LOVE our bodies and be thankful for them.  She does suggest standing in front of a mirror naked and being thankful for every aspect of our bodies.
Yes, I have done it, but only a couple of times.  I mainly just talk to myself like a great friend, with my clothes on (and sometimes even my make-up on too!).

It was so amazing this morning.  I had my hands full of about 6 cookbooks and I was going to look through them and find some good recipes. I sat down and started with the Green Smoothie Girls cookbook, How to Eat Right in the Real World.  I just randomly opened it and turned to a chapter that was titled, "LOVE your body!" I was like, WOW!! I'm receiving this message on so many levels. :) She said she used to criticize herself, but stopped after she was doing it one day at the gym, and another gal there said, "I love my body.  It serves me well!"  So, she made that her new mantra and she feels so much gratitude for her body now.  I do too.  I feel like my body is a very precious treasure and gift and I want to talk to it and about it like it is truly a temple (because it is). My kids see and hear me talking to my hands saying things like, "I just love you! You help me do so many things.  Thank you! You are amazing."  I tell them how amazing their bodies are too. The more I think about it and talk about it, I am truly amazed at how magnificent our bodies are.

To our amazing bodies!!

What's for Dinner?

I stop and think all the time about HOW I think....for example, it dawned on me a couple of days ago that I always think, "Why must we eat 3 meals a day? I can't ever think of anything to fix. We all have different tastes.  Larry wants meat, I want less meat. I dread cooking dinner!" So, I'm changing my thinking on that too, to, "I easily and quickly prepare dinner.  Good and Healthy meal ideas come to me all the time.  I come across healthy recipes and can't wait to make them for my family.  They love what I make. We enjoy eating dinner together.  Family dinner time is a very happy time." etc... :)  The last couple of days HAVE been easier to fix dinner and the recipes did come more quickly.  I've have an interesting concoction in the slow cooker right now. :) The idea came to me this morning and I usually think about dinner a few minutes before I need to start making it.  Often, Larry will come home and say, "What can I make for dinner?" What a sweetie!

First Post: Email to My Beautiful and Amazing Sisters!

Hello and Good Morning to my beautiful and amazing sisters!!!!!

Carol Tuttle is the lady who does, Dress Your Truth, that I was telling you about over our weekend together. I just finished reading her book, Remembering Wholeness, and that is a great book.  In fact, it was in her book that she mentioned how Louis Hay changed her life and that is what led me to Louis Hay (who I have loved and LOVE reading her books and implementing her suggestions).

Leslie sent this video along to me this morning (THANKS, LES!!) - see below, way below!  I wanted to send it along to all of you because it is she who I was referring to so much when we were together.  There are so many people out there who address how our minds can change our lives.  It is working for me and it is truly amazing!!

After I watched the following video I called and talked to mom and dad.  I had the feeling I should share it with mom (the words, at least) and she was brought to tears.  It led to me telling her how much I love her, adore her, and how grateful I am for her (which moved ME to tears!).  I told her that I would strive to call her more often and fill her mind with positive quotes, thoughts and affirmations. She was grateful for this and said she would look forward to it.

The other day I was HIGHLY frustrated with Larry.  I didn't say much to him, but it was probably obvious I wasn't happy (which at that point I'm sure the negative energy was tangible).  It was late and I crawled into bed, and he joined me shortly there after.  I didn't say the usual, "Good Night," and before long he was snoring away (he can sleep within seconds of crawling into bed); however, the events of the night were "wide awake" in my mind and just eating at me, when I decided to simply change my thinking.  I started to think, "I am forgiving. I forgive quickly and easily." As I thought those words over and over, a tangible feeling of a burden being lightened overcame me.  It was cool and I felt so much better (and lighter).

Then I started to ask myself where Larry may have been coming from, in his decision that really upset me, and tried to see things from his perspective.  When I did, I knew that he had been thinking about his dad's comfort and needed to get his dad home to give him his shot so he would be out of pain (which extended our time in the car by 30 minutes and it was late and we were tired).  I was so upset that Larry hadn't dropped us off at home when we were so close to our house (again it was late and we were all exhausted), but he headed straight to his parent's house to take them home first (from our family dinner at Synthia's).  It was Sunday night and with the time change, it was 11:00 PM to the kids (and myself).  However, after thinking differently about the situation, sending out thoughts of forgiveness, I looked forward to the morning, so I could cuddle with Larry before he went to work.

Normally, I might have let it fester longer. I definitely would have gone to sleep feeling upset, which would have more than likely followed into the next morning and I probably would have greeted Larry in the morning with, "What were you thinking? The kids were tired, I was tired, and you didn't even take that into account when you drove on to your parent's house. You were so close to our house.  Why didn't you drop us off? Please think of us next time or I'll drive separately. That was ridiculous.  We were so close to our house and you just drove by...." URG!! (A bonding moment for sure and a lovely way for us both to start our day) - I can only imagine what my dreams would have been like too!

The circumstances didn't change, but my mind did.  That is all it took! We can think what we want in any circumstance.  It will take time, but I choose to think the best thoughts about myself and others.  Even with Hudson.  I tell him everyday, "You are lovable. You are so full of love, kindness and goodness." It is like a miracle.  It tells me he loves me at LEAST 10 times a day.  He hugs me and kisses me often. Why?? Because I always talk positively about him to Larry, to Madison and to others. I share his best traits now, instead of his worst.  I focus on the good and think the best about him, and (of course he is getting older too), but he has changed and I owe a lot of that to how I think about him. What we put out, comes back to us.

You have the power to change your life, by changing your mind.  Try it! Do it!!!!

If you don't believe me then believe our Prophet and Apostles (I have turned these into affirmations too - in italics). As you can see I am addicted to affirmations.  I find myself turning everything into an affirmation (everything positive, that is!).

We should remember that saying 'I love you' is only a beginning. We need to say it, we need to mean it, and most importantly we need consistently to show it.

I remember to say, 'I love you!' When I say it, I  mean it, and most importantly I consistently show it.

Love you all!! Hope this hasn't been too much!!! :) I am going to start writing down my journey of changing my life by changing my mind, as a record for myself and my kids.  So, I am going to start a blog today with what I just sent you.  I'm thinking of calling it, "I Changed My Mind!"

I am sending happy, hopeful vibes your way today!!!
